first_imgZAGREB – Greece rebounded from a 10-point deficit to stun host Croatia, 72-70 in opening round play of the European basketball tourney.The win moved Greece to 2-0 after beating FYROM in the first game and put it in a prime position to finish atop the group and move on to the next round.It wasn’t easy as Croatia led much of the game, including 33-28 at the half before upping the lead to 10, when the Greeks mounted a furious comeback.For more than three periods in the game Croatia had the upper hand, leading 33-28 at half-time and stretching its advantage to up to 10 points on three occasions.Coach Fotis Katsikaris switched to a three-guard formation in the last period and jumped out to a 72-67 lead before Croatia closed at the finish.Vassilis Spanoulis was the top scorer for Greece with 16 points, followed by Giorgos Printezis with 13.
