first_imgEveryone Loves Stephen ColbertThe Colbert Report signed off on December 18, and we have to admit, Stephen’s swansong lacked star power. OK, that’s not true at all. Pretty much everyone and their mother showed up. Take a look as Stephen and his friends led a rendition of “We’ll Meet Again.” Among the familiar faces who joined him were Tony winners Bryan Cranston, Cyndi Lauper and Mandy Patinkin, Tony nominees Jeff Daniels, Alan Alda and Patrick Stewart, and Of Mice and Men headliner James Franco. How often do you sing with Big Bird and Bill de Blasio? Kinky Tony Winners Join ForcesColbert’s party isn’t the only one that Lauper is crashing. As previously reported, Kinky Boots star Billy Porter will headline Lincoln Center’s Appel Room on January 28 and 29 as part of the American Songbook series. The tuner’s composer will now join him for the performances. The two will perform “Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy” together, which can be heard on Porter’s latest album, Billy’s Back on Broadway. Best of all, it sounds exactly how you imagine a duet sung by Cyndi Lauper and Billy Porter would sound. The Normal Heart Honored by Producers GuildThe Producers Guild of America will honor the HBO adaptation of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart with the 2015 Stanley Kramer Award, according to Variety. The award celebrates films that encourage public awareness of social issues. It will be presented at the 26th Annual Producers Guild Awards on January 24, 2015.Honeymoon’s Elvii Get FunkyIf you haven’t seen Honeymoon in Vegas yet, 1.) do so, and 2.) spoiler alert: there are some flying Elvii (not to be confused with elves.) While she didn’t belt out any yuletide hits, she did cook shrimp scampi with Clinton Kelly and Carla Hall—at least until the Rockettes interrupted the party and tried to upstage her. Menzel also played a game with Kelly called “Broadway or Fraudway.” As it turns out, she knows about Broadway. Go figure. Star Filescenter_img View Comments Idina Menzellast_img read more
