Exclusive – French midfield ace can improve Man United, says former defender

first_imgManchester United may join Arsenal in the race to sign Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin, Danny Higginbotham has told talkSPORT.Schneiderlin, who was expected by many to follow manager Mauricio Pochettino to Spurs over the summer, has been heavily linked with Arsenal following a number of imposing performances in central midfield for the Saints. And with the Red Devils in need of their own midfield reinforcements, Higginbotham, who started his career at Old Trafford, has suggested that manager Louis van Gaal may also be keeping tabs on the French midfielder. When asked whether Schneiderlin would improve the current United squad, he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: “There are a few players about, I think he [Morgan Schneiderlin] is one of them. There will be a lot of teams around that are interested in signing him, and he may even look at today – no disrespect to Southampton – as an advert to put himself on show.“Man Utd are still a little bit short in midfield and I’m sure that they’ll be looking to get new players in.”last_img read more
