first_imgRuairi Keating is a doubt for Finn Harps ahead of their trip to Waterford on Friday night.Finn Harps will be hoping to extend their unbeaten league start to the season to three games on Friday evening when they make the long trip south to face Waterford United at the RSC (kick-off 7.45pm). Harps followed up their opening day scoreless draw away to Shelbourne with a comfortable 2-0 victory over league newboys Cabinteely at Finn Park last Friday night.“I was glad to get the win on Friday night,” said Harps boss Ollie Horgan after the game. “Credit to the ground staff who got the pitch ready in very difficult weather conditions leading up to game,” he said. “The early goal was a huge help to us but Cabinteely were always dangerous from set pieces and on the break.“They will prove to be very difficult opposition to us and a lot more teams in the season ahead,” said Horgan of the Dublin based side.Harps controlled much of the game but clear cut chances were few and far between.“We really hadn’t too many chances until after second goal when Cabinteely pushed men forward and left space to try to exploit at the back. “I felt that all fourteen lads that played made a contribution which doesn’t always happen,” continued Horgan.Like Harps, Friday’s opponents Waterford have made an unbeaten start to the season and have also picked up four points from their opening two games including last week’s 2-1 victory over Wexford Youths.“Waterford have made a great start and will obviously be full of confidence having beaten Wexford away,” said Horgan.“The return of Jack Doherty and Dylan Mernagh is a big boost to them along with new additions in the likes of Sean Hurley and young Dineen at the back.“We struggled in the RSC this time last year and they ran out comfortable winners so we know how difficult it is going to be. “We worked hard as a group last Friday against Cabinteely in front of a very encouraging home support,” said Horgan.“However, it is more difficult to repeat this away from home in places like Waterford this Friday with their home support and quality.”Packie Mailey remains out while last week’s two goal hero Rory Keating is a doubt and will be assessed prior to the departure south.Although Harps held the upper hands against Waterford last season – winning two and drawing one of their four meetings – they haven’t always had their way against Friday’s opponents. In the twenty meetings prior to last season they had won only three times against Waterford, with only one of these victories coming at the RSC.TEAM NEWSSuspended: None.Doubtful: Ruairi Keating.Injured: Packie Mailey.FORM GUIDE (last six league games)Finn Harps: L-W-L-L-D-W (7 pts)Waterford United: L-L-W-L-D-W (7 pts)RECORD AGAINST WATERFORD / WATERFORD UNITED (All competitions)Friday’s game will be the 95th meeting of the two clubs, and the 47th to be played in Waterford.Total Games: 94 (47 at Waterford)Harps Wins: 32 (11 at Waterford)Waterford Wins: 43 (25 at Waterford)Draws: 19 (11 at Waterford)Harps Goals: 136 (57 at Waterford)Waterford Goals: 148 (86 at Waterford)LAST 10 GAMES v WATERFORD UNITED27-Jul-12 Waterford United 1-1 Finn Harps (First Division)29-Sep-12 Finn Harps 1-2 Waterford United (First Division)08-Mar-13 Waterford United 1-1 Finn Harps (First Division)26-Apr-13 Finn Harps 0-1 Waterford United (First Division)28-Jun-13 Waterford United 3-0 Finn Harps (First Division)16-Aug-13 Finn Harps 0-2 Waterford United (First Division)07-Mar-14 Finn Harps 0-0 Waterford United (First Division)25-Apr-14 Waterford United 2-0 Finn Harps (First Division)27-Jun-14 Finn Harps 1-0 Waterford United (First Division)15-Aug-14 Waterford United 0-2 Finn Harps (First Division)LAST TIME v WATERFORD at RSC15th August 2014.WATERFORD UNITED 0FINN HARPS 2 Jordan Loftus 16, 36.Waterford United: Matthew Connor, Conor Whittle, Shaun Corcoran, Patrick Fitzgerald, John Frost, Brian Nolan, Ross Fitzpatrick (Mikie Rowe 59), Vincent Sullivan, Ethan Boyle, Conor Coad (Cormac Breslin 78), Mark Walsh (Andrew O’Connor 59).
