PepsiCo Tests SelfDriving Snack Robots at College Campus

At one college campus, students are getting their snacks and beverages delivered via self-driving robot.PepsiCo today rolled out “snackbots” at the University of the Pacific campus in Stockton, Calif.  The robot delivers snacks from Hello Goodness, which PepsiCo created in 2015 to provide “healthier snacks and beverages to consumers on the go.”From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., students can order food and drinks to one of more than 50 locations across the 175-acre campus through the snackbot app.The snackbots deliver snacks such as Smartfood Delight, Baked Lay’s, SunChips, Pure Leaf Tea, bubly, LIFEWTR, and Starbucks Cold Brew.“We’re thrilled to launch our Hello Goodness autonomous delivery snackbots and reimagine college snacking for the future,” Vice President Innovation and Insights of PepsiCo Foodservice Scott Finlow said in a statement.According to Finlow, the University of the Pacific will serve as a test site with three to five snackbots roaming across campus starting today, following several weeks of testing.Students can order food and drinks from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. via the snackbot App, to be delivered to more than 50 designated areas across the campus.
