Rodger Dwyer, 67, Wellington: Nov. 1, 1946 – Aug. 15, 2014

first_imgFrank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Rodger DwyerRodger Frank Dwyer, age 67, lifelong Wellington resident, died early Friday morning, August 15, 2014 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, KS.  He was a retired Manufacturing Manager and had worked at GEC for 34 years.Rodger was born on November 1, 1946 in Wellington, KS to Carl F. Dwyer and Betty J. (Washburn) Dwyer.  He attended school in Wellington and was a 1965 graduate of Wellington High School.  Rodger also received an Associate’ s Degree from Butler County Community College in Engineering.  He served in the United States Army with 101st Airborne Division from 1967 – 1970 and was a Viet Nam Veteran.Rodger married Brenda M. Green on June 3, 1972 at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS.He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Beverly Griffith.Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Brenda Dwyer of Wellington; two sons, Ryan Dwyer and his wife Lori of Olathe, KS and Christopher Dwyer of Kansas City, MO; mother, Betty Thompson of Wellington; sister, Pam Brosius of Hanford, CA; and two grandchildren, Lauryn and Dylan Dwyer of Olathe.Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 10:00 A.M.  Pastor John Bliss and Pastor Don Bryant will officiate.  Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 1 to 8 p.m.Memorials have been established with the First Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.  Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
