Everton chief Moshiri adamant new stadium will be builtby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveEverton chief Farhad Moshiri is determined for their new stadium to be built.Planning permission is set to be submitted in the second half of this year, with the first ‘spade in the ground’ anticipated in early 2020.After a number of false dawns over previous projects Moshiri is adamant the stadium will be built.”It has nothing to do with my vision, it is a necessity. That must be understood – we don’t have a choice, we don’t have a Plan B or a Plan C,” he said at their AGM.”Very much like Arsenal and Tottenham that had to build a stadium – they were not given stadiums like West Ham or Manchester City.”We have a lot of experience so I think we will complete this stadium, be sure that will happen. And I will throw as much money as needed.”Private markets will provide £350m, naming rights will give us some more and we maybe have an equity gap of £100m.”I think this club, under the management of Marcel and leadership of Denise (Barrett-Baxendale, the club’s chief executive) is sufficiently robust to see the project through. It is no luxury, we have to get it done.”If we want to have a big club we need a modern stadium and we will get it.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

Twitter/@NickJuskewycz There were plenty of interesting possible upsets on the college football slate today, but we didn’t tab Jacksonville State over Auburn as one of them. However, the Gamecocks, who went 10-2 in FCS play last year, are half way to a stunning win at Jordan-Hare Stadium. They lead the Tigers 10-6 at halftime.Auburn and Jacksonville State traded field goals early on, but the Gamecocks’ quarterback Eli Jenkins threw an impressive touchdown pass to Josh Barge to take the lead in the second quarter.Jacksonville State currently leads 6th ranked #Auburn 10-6, late in the second quarter. #JSUvsAUB pic.twitter.com/B50kBpQDXD— CFB Nation (@UofCFB) September 12, 2015There is plenty of time life, but Auburn fans have to be concerned with how the team has come out against what should be an overmatched opponent.
Will SmithA surveillance video from a New Orleans’ restaurant appears to show Will Smith in a possible hit-and-run with his alleged killer before the former Ohio State star’s death on Saturday night. Smith, 34, was shot to death in the Lower Garden District of the city. It had been reported that Smith was involved in a road-rage incident that led to him getting shot multiple times. A man has been arrested for the killing. The video shows a Mercedes SUV bumping the rear end of a Hummer near the intersection of Magazine Street and St. Andrew Street, a location about two blocks from where Cardell Hayes allegedly killed Smith. Smith was driving a Mercedes G63 SUV on Saturday night, while Hayes was driving a Hummer H2.Here’s the video. Hayes’ attorney said his client was involved in a hit-and-run. “Someone hit him,” John Fuller said. “The person failed to pull over. My client trailed behind this person in an effort to get their license plate number. My client also called 911.”Hayes was arrested on Sunday on a second-degree murder charge.
Manchester United made it two wins from two under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as they saw off Huddersfield Town 3-1 on Wednesday.Goals in each half from Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba sealed a happy return to Old Trafford for Solskjaer, who received a rapturous reception before kick-off.The victory, which followed a 5-1 thrashing of Cardiff City in their first match since Jose Mourinho’s departure, means the Red Devils are back to within five points of the top four having played a game more than Arsenal and Chelsea. Juan Mata danced his way into the penalty area and found Ander Herrera, who teed up Pogba to sweep home first time.Pogba added gloss to the scoreline and a super personal display with 12 minutes to go, collecting Jesse Lingard’s pass and bending a sublime low strike past Jonas Lossl from 25 yards out, making Jorgensen’s late tap-in mere consolation. What does it mean? United building momentum under SolskjaerThis was not as slick a performance as United produced at Cardiff, but they largely kept Huddersfield under control and certainly played the majority of the match on the front foot.Back-to-back wins under Solskjaer will only help to boost morale after those tough final few months under Mourinho, and Arsenal and Chelsea will play later on Wednesday knowing that anything but a win will give United hope in their quest to catch the top four.As for Huddersfield, who have lost 13 of their 19 league games this season, their chances of survival are looking increasingly slim.Pogba full of smiles againIn a week in which he released his only emoji app, Pogba put in a performance of undeniable joy. His goals were expertly taken, but his all-round impact was best summed up when he won back possession near his own penalty area and fired a pinpoint 70-yard pass to Marcus Rashford.4 – Paul Pogba has been involved in four goals in two Premier League games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (2 goals, 2 assists), the same total he had registered in his last 12 games under Jose Mourinho (1 goal, 3 assists). David Mearns, the director of Bluewater Recoveries and the man who was at the head of the renewed efforts to locate the plane carrying Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson , says the families of both the player and the pilot know they are dead.Mearns led the operation to find the aircraft, which disappeared off the radar near the Channel Islands on its voyage from Nantes, after a crowdfunding page raised well over the target to restart the search after initial investigations by authorities had been called off.The plane was found just hours after the search had recommenced, with video footage revealing one body on board the wreckage . Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? With authorities having stated last week that chances of survival for either of the individuals were ‘extremely remote’, Mearns has now confirmed the priority is trying to recover the bodies.“What these families know at the moment is that both [Sala and Ibbotson] are dead and what they want is to recover their bodies,” Mearns said in an interview with Clarin .“The most important thing is the bodies. Recovering the bodies is the most important thing for both families. The plane is a different matter, that’s related only to determining the cause of the accident.”Means stated that he was no longer involved in the operation, with British authorities having taken over following the discovery of the wreckage , but did offer some insight into how the bodies would be recovered.“I’m not involved anymore. Once we found it, everything was in the hands of the Air Accidents Investigations Branch. They will investigate what caused the crash,” he said.“What I know is that they only have one body, that’s everything I know. They [AAIB] tried to recover the body during the night and I know they had some trouble.“If they are doing it now, they’re doing it with a robotic vehicle, operated remotely by a pilot and connected to the ship with a cable. It has cameras and microphones and has robotic arms.“The issue is where the body is; that is to say if it is free or if it’s stuck in the seats. They can recover the body in different ways: they could possibly use a hook or a rope. You could also potentially use a basket.“There are many ways of doing it. As far as I know, there are no divers.“The family will be very grateful for their efforts. Now, we’re praying for them to succeed.” Check out Goal’s Premier League 2019-20 fantasy football podcast for game tips, debate and rivalries.
The new Tim Tebow Heisman commercial is amazing. Oklahoma’s head football coach, Lincoln Riley, made a surprising comment about his quarterback, Kyler Murray, earlier this week.Murray, a top 10 pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, is believed to be playing his final season of football. He’ll suit up for the Sooners this fall and then head off to the minor leagues.Riley, though, said he wasn’t sure if the 2018 season would be his last one with the Sooners. He was asked how he’s going to handle this being Murray’s final season.“Well, I’m not gonna really … decide how I want to handle that,” Riley said. “We’ll see if it’s his final year. That hasn’t really been determined yet. I’m not worried about it if it is or if it isn’t. That’s gonna have no impact on this year.“My hope through this whole thing is that Kyler is gonna be able to do what he wants to do. If he wants to go play baseball after this year, then we’ll wish him well and be happy for him. But the ball’s gonna be in his court, which is where it should be.”Murray’s agent has since responded to this idea.“Kyler’s baseball career has a very defined path which includes playing football at OU for only the 2018 season,” Boras told The Athletic.Murray was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Oakland A’s. If he ends up playing football for more than one season, that would be major news to them.

(Photo by Butch Dill/Getty Images)It has been a miserable start to the season for Florida State. The Seminoles’ nightmare September got even worse today with injury news regarding running back Khalan Laborn.Laborn, a former five-star recruit, injured his knee in the win over Samford on Sept. 8. He had surgery last week, and originally, it was thought he might be able to return at some point this fall. However, that won’t be the case. FSU head coach Willie Taggart announced tonight that Laborn is out for the season.Laborn dislocated his kneecap on the kick return when he got injured, and apparently the injury was worse than it appeared at first.Willie Taggart updates status of Khalan Laborn to say that he’s out for the season. He redshirted last season, but was expected to contribute heavily this year.In his lone offensive touch of the season, Laborn turned a short reception against Virginia Tech into a 37-yard gain. He also returned three kicks for 64 yards. You couldn’t have drawn up a worse beginning of the season for Florida State. There is already a GoFundMe to replace Willie Taggart, who is in his first season in Tallahassee. The Seminoles will look to get back in the win column when they host Northern Illinois this Saturday.
