Tweet this comment Cancel Submit Comment Subscribe to None Replies All new comments A fiddler for the John Chitwood Band performed at the Brookdale open house Tuesday (Schmitz photo).by Amber Schmitz, Sumner Newscow — Sterling House of Wellington will now be known as Brookdale, as their company recently changed.Brookdale held a ribbon cutting and open house Tuesday for the public.“This is an exciting time in our community’s history, as we become clearly connected to our Brookdale senior living family for all the places life can go,” said Shelley Hansel, Brookdale Sales and Marketing Manager.There are 20 other facilities in Kansas — including Wichita, Derby, Hutchinson, Salina, Abilene and Great Bend which are also changing their names to Brookdale.“This means that when you see a sign that says Brookdale, you will know that the people who work there have a passion for finding solutions to seniors’ needs,” Hansel said.Hansel said the name change will connect them with their national brand and strengthen the ties within Kansas.“It will also make us more recognizable to those seniors and their family members in the Kansas market who are searching for solutions,” Hansel said.In their 30 plus years in the community, Sterling House of Wellington has provided tremendous and personalized assisted living care, Hansel said.Brookdale’s open house served a meal at its open house.“And this is thanks to our amazing associates, the same associates who have always worked at Sterling House will continue to care for our residents the same way they always have,” Hansel said.A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday, followed by a community lunch with live entertainment.Hansel went on to thank all of the associates for the work they’ve done to make the renaming process a success.“Also, for caring for our residents, not because it’s their job,  but because it’s their passion,” Hansel said. “Everyday we recite our mission statement and I believe all of us take this mission to heart….enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence and integrity everyday.”Follow us on Twitter.last_img
