first_imgPolsat-backed over-the-top service Ipla has overtaken Onet.pl to become the leading Polish video-on-demand platform, according to the latest Megapanel PBI/Gemius survey. Ipla had 3.2 million users in March, ahead of Onet.pl with 2.8 million users. Amongst Ipla users, 2.35 million used the service via dedicated apps while 1.11 million used the ipla.tv web portal. The other major VOD platforms covered by the survey were Wirtualna Polska Group’s Orange-wp.tv with 2.56 million users, TVN Group’s tvnplayer.pl with 1.37 million users, public broadcaster TVP’s tvp.pl VOD service with 620,000 users and Iplex.pl with 150,000 users.According to Redefine, the Polsat unit that controls Ipla, the survey will have underestimated the overall number of Ipla users as it does not include the full range of devices via which users can access the service. Redefine estimates that about 1.5 million viewers used mobile devices, games consoles, set-top boxes and connected TVs to access the service in March.Ipla offers a range of programming including free access to episodes of a number of Polsat TV shows before they are broadcast, shows from other Polish broadcasters and a catalogue of movies from studios including Disney, Warner Bros and SPI.last_img
